Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956. Graduated from Tama Art University in 1980.
After working at IDEO USA and as president of IDEO Tokyo Branch Office, established Naoto Fukasawa Design in 2003.
Major works include MUJI's wall hanging CD player (permanent collection of MoMA New York), Infobar and neon mobile phones, and household electrical appliances brand }0.
Works he recently presented from B&BITALIA, Driade, Magis, Artemide, Danese, and boffi gained a lot of attention.
He has received over 50 design awards, including American IDEA Gold Award, German if Gold Award, British D&AD Gold Award, Mainichi Design Award, G Mark Gold Award, the 5th Oribe Award.
Fukasawa also is a professor at Musashino Art University and a visiting professor at Tama Art University.
His books include gDesign no Rinkakuh (TOTO) and gThe Ecological Approach to Designh (Tokyo Shoseki).

What did you have in mind when creating your T-1 T-shirt design?

Red on white is a symbolic icon that represents Japan. Rose is frequently used as flower prints on clothes. I combined these two symbolic motifs with soccer ball, and came up with this design

I tried not to change my initial image when developing the design.
